Burning/Itching

Several months ago I went to Marshalls Creek Chiropractic care as a last resort. For over 2½ years I had been to numerous specialists in hopes of relieving the severe itching and stabbing pains in my upper right arm that kept me awake night after night. I had spent days without sleep and would actually look forward to collapsing from exhaustion. In an attempt to resolve my problem, I went to my general practitioner who then sent me to a neurologist who said there was nothing wrong with me neurologically but gave me medication to deaden my nerves so that the itching would cease. Although I fell asleep at night, I never felt alert and awake and made terrible mistakes due to being groggy, liking spilling a cup of boiling water on my leg. I felt that I was facing a life of no sleep or taking a pill every day and living in a fog. So I decided to stop taking the medication that my neurologist gave me and went back to night after night of no sleep. Feeling desperate once again due to lack of sleep, I went to a rheumatoid arthritis specialist (perhaps it was arthritis causing my itching?), then a psychologist (perhaps it was anxiety?),and then an allergist (perhaps it was the change in weather?). I also went to three dermatologists (even one at a prominent school of dermatology) who all concluded that that I had brachioradial pruritus or an itching of the upper extremities caused by nerve damage from overexposure to the sun and that I should apply various creams to alleviate the severity of the itching but also needed to realize that the itching would never go away. None of the creams alleviated the itching. I felt that all of the doctors I was seeing were more interested in covering up the symptoms with creams and drugs than really engaging in the type of research needed to understand the cause of the problem. At this point I was feeling extremely depressed and was trying to come to terms with the fact that my life would be forever diminished. That is, until I came to Marshalls Creek Chiropractic. At Marshalls Creek Chiropractic, for the first time, I was asked numerous questions about my health and my symptoms in an attempt to truly understand what I was experiencing and what might be causing my problem. I began a program of treatment that involved a more comprehensive approach, which included adjustments, therapeutic massages, Graston and periodic evaluations. After 2 ½ years of suffering, I am symptom free. I am extremely thankful to the team of chiropractors at Marshalls Creek Chiropractic for caring enough to take the time needed to assess and reassess my condition in order to help me get back the quality of life that I thought, and that numerous specialists thought, I would never have again.
