We know that summer is ramping up and many people are trying to find a weight loss program that works for them. In today’s post, we are going to offer some tips on how to set yourself up for success when it comes to a weight loss plan. Of course, reading tips for weight loss on the internet can only go so far, and we truly encourage those who are serious about wanting to lose weight to contact our wellness center and get in touch with our weight loss specialists. Weight loss must be personalized, and having an experienced nutritional counselor to assess your needs and desires is the best thing you can do for yourself. In the meantime, keep reading to learn some ways you can increase your chances of weight loss success this time around!

Don’t Compare Yourself To Others

The internet is full of “Fitspo” models – short for “fitness inspiration.” However, scrolling through the Instagram feeds of these toned and tanned men and women can do more harm than good. While we are sure these models work hard for their bodies, they are just that: models. Use them for inspiration, but don’t compare yourself to them. The only person you should compare yourself to is you. How is the “you” you are now different from the “you” you were last year or even last week? Be the best version of you, not the best version of someone else.

Set Small Goals

If you want to lose 100 pounds, you’re going to be frustrated if you only lose two after a week because you still have 98 to go. Instead, break your goals down into realistic chunks — and start slow. Maybe your goal is to lose five pounds this month. Then, after you do that, lose another five pounds. If you find that losing five pounds in a month comes easily to you, then increase your goal to 10 pounds in a month and continue until you hit your end-goal.

Change Your Goal Mindset

In addition to making smaller goals, consider changing your goal mindset altogether. Instead of focusing on what you’re going to lose or cut out, focus on what you are going to do. For example, make a goal to go for a brisk walk during your lunch break every day, or commit to eating plenty of fruits and veggies this week. If you can succeed at these small goals then the weight will naturally come off.

Keep Track Of Food And Exercise

There are tons of ways to keep track of what you eat and how much you exercise. Whether you want to use an app that tracks calories and nutritional information or simply write down what you eat on a sticky note, doing so will help you visualize what you are eating and where you can make changes. The same goes with exercising. Maybe you feel like you are not making progress, but suddenly you check your notes and realize you can walk a mile in half the amount of time that you used to.
